I watched the tutorial from Emily (emilynoel83 on youtube, Beauty Broadcast) Valentine's Makeup: Chocolate Covered Cherry and I loved the colors - I have MAC Cranberry and am a fan of burgundy type shades in general. And just a little Valentine's love, Emily is the first beauty youtuber I ever watched and she's still my favorite. :)
This morning while getting my makeup on, I decided I'd use the big Estee Lauder Purchase with Purchase eye palette from around Christmas 2011 since it has a nice selection of browns, highlights and a burgundy. I tend to go for very warm tones and opted for a lighter color palette so it wouldn't be too crazy dramatic against my fair skin.
For my face, I used L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle in Light Ivory - I've had this for quite a while but rediscovered it recently. It's working really well with my skin right now and it doesn't cause excessive shine throughout the day as long as I don't set it with a powder. It's fairly buildable but needs to be applied in thin layers to avoid it balling up on you. But overall, I find it extremely easy to work with.
Blush was also a mousse (can you tell I like that texture!), Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Soft Plum. It can be rather dark for my skintone if I use too much (duh) but it blends out so easily, it's also easy as pie to apply.
And to continue the creamy theme, I used MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl for highlight on my cheekbones into my temples.
I used the burgundy here packed onto the lid (these shadows are a little powdery and can be slightly difficult to not make a mess), matte brown (pictured in the full palette bottom left next to the green), and blended out the matte with the shimmery brown next to the burgundy above.
I used a variety of the light matte and shimmery highlight shades to blend out the edges and highlight a bit on the inner corners.
Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash, Benefit Bad Gal mascara as a base with e.l.f. Mineral Mascara over top for definition and length, Boots No 7 stick concealer in Very Fair around my nose (to hide the redness from a mild cold), Revlon PhotoReady stick concealer under eyes, Anastasia Brow Duality matte in waterline and shimmery in inner corner, Maybelline Color Sensational Nearly There lipstick.
